How safe is it in Ukraine?
It is quite safe in Ukraine and other CIS countries, if you know where to go and what to do. It might be somewhat dangerous, if you get lost and you are on your own. If you stay away from unsafe neighborhoods, don’t flash your cash and follow just the basic safety rules, you are going to be ok.
Any personal assist for my tour?
We are always there to assist you during your trip, whether you have any questions about services or other things. You are free to use the computer and Internet in our office. We would consult and advice you on various matters like the better places to go, restaurants, flower shops and other small hints. Simply making your stay in Ukraine easier.
Additional services cover first of all interpreting service (service of English speaking interpreter, French/Italian speaking). Our interpreters are decent, punctual and very professional.
Also we may offer you the guided excursion in English language around Kiev, to see the most interesting sights, monuments, museums, entertainment places of Kiev, etc.
All in English language by experienced guide.
Do I need to make a prepayment for an apartment?
To book your apartment you are required to pay a deposit of 100.00 USD. The deposit can be paid with on-line credit card or Western Union. Deposit is not refundable. In case of unpredicted cancellation of your trip, please inform us in advance and we will hold your deposit for your other dates. The full amount should be paid in cash upon on arrival in the first day of tour.
Can you provide any additional services during my trip if needed?
Yes. Ukraine Airport/railway station/bus station pick-up and drop off.
We meet the client upon his arrival at the airport, train station or the local bus station, and transfer to your private apartment. Pickup includes a short guiding by one of our English speaking managers after you got to your apartment, in order to show the area where you stay, useful destinations and directions, to make copies of your passport and immigration card (necessary procedure for Ukraine). By your request we can help you with grocery/clothes shopping, laundry, personal assist in town, etc.
When your tour is finished, we transfer you to the airport/train/bus station for your departure.
Are the apartments really good?
Apartments that we offer are located in the downtown, central part of Kiev and other cities in Ukraine. Apartments are clean and safe, all furnished, full-set kitchen and equipped with the dishes and plates, supplied with cooking equipment, hot water, gas heating system. Air-conditioner, washing machine, gas oven, microwave, refrigerator, cable TV with some English channels, land line telephone, DVD player, coffee maker, ironing. Some apartments have computers with Internet connections.
If having any problems in your rented apartment, we kindly provide quick assistance and support. All apartments designed to make your stay comfortable and trouble-free. A better alternative to expensive hotels and troublesome hostels.
Can I bring my laptop to Ukraine? Do I need an adaptor?
Yes, you can bring your laptop and you will need a simple adapter. As far as customs office is concerned, there are no restrictions on transporting your personal laptop across the Ukrainian border. Now about the adapter. The electricity in Ukraine and in all the other European countries is 220 volts (it is 110 in USA). So, for all other electronic devices except your laptop you will need a step down transformer (an adapter that changes voltage). Those could be bought at Sears or Radioshack at $20-$30. However, the laptops are the lucky exceptions in that they do not need a transformer, because their chargers normally take in any voltage from 110 volts to 250 volts. There may be laptop chargers out there that would not take 220 volts, however we have not seen one. Please, check your charger first before you fry your laptop ! The acceptable voltage should be printed directly on the charger. However, even if your laptop will take 220 volts, you still need a simple adapter. The reason is that Ukrainian electrical outlet has 2 round holes, while American plug has 2 flat prones. There is no way to fit one into the other. So you need to buy a cheap ($1-$3) adapter that has 2 holes for flat American prones and 2 round prones on the other end to plug into the Russian outlets. You can buy these at many places: RadioShack, Sears, or even at your local WalMart. Network and phone connectors are the same as in US. This applies to all the countries of CIS.
Will my cell phone work in Ukraine?
It depends on the provider that you are using. All European providers use GSM standard for cell phone communication, so, if you are from any European country, your phone will work seamlessly in Ukraine. You are likely to be charged premium roaming charges, so, please, check with your provider. They may have a calling plan that covers Ukraine, so you won’t incur roaming charges.
For your convenience we provide you with the cell phone with Ukrainian SIM card. Stay mobile during your stay in Ukraine. It will save you good money for local cell and land line calls. You will just need to purchase calling credits in any shop/supermarket around the town.
What is the weather like in Ukraine?
Ukraine isn’t a large country but any way its climate is as diverse as it can be. So, it would be hard to get a full description in just a few sentences. But, generally speaking, the climate of the central parts of Ukraine, where the majority of our clients travel, is not as bad as portrayed in movies and somewhat resembles American Midwest, only a bit colder, but less windy.
